The Season of Giving at RGL

As the holidays grow near, the Reno Green elves are starting their giving season. We want to give back to the community that has supported us since 1975.

During this season, we have two giving events to share with you.

Thanksgiving Grocery Donation

Every year, our office staff and field managers get together to fill our carts to donate to those in need. A week before Thanksgiving, we go to our local Safeway, split into teams and compete to fill out carts with as many non-perishable items as we can.

We purchase food items for Thanksgiving as well as items for everyday use including pantry staples, baby formula and food, diapers and toiletries. It’s a friendly competition that we must admit gets a little over the top, but the result is trucks full of items to donate. This year, we donated the groceries to St. Vincent’s Food Pantry in Reno to help put food on the table this Thanksgiving for families in need in our community.

St. Vincent’s Food Pantry, part of the Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada, serves our community daily and offers food services and family and residential services. Their food pantry is located at 500 E. Fourth St. in Reno where individuals and families in need can receive non-perishable foods at no cost. Perishable items will be given to the Dining Room program to be cooked for holiday meals.

Holiday Toy Drive

Starting Nov. 25, we will be collecting unwrapped toys to donate to the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation. We are asking our clients, the community and our staff to help bring joy to special boy and girls who need some extra cheer this holiday season.

This will be our second year participating in the toy drive. Please help us by dropping off unwrapped toys to our office at 190 Woodland Ave by December 11 and the Reno Green elves will do the rest.

Questions about our events can be directed to Jenn Fisher at [email protected] or 775-277-3464.
